…and also Plastic Free July!
Last month we celebrated world refill day on 16th June, and we suggested one way you could celebrate was to use our range of household refill products. Well, for the whole of July you now have a good reason to use our refill products - because its Plastic Free July!
Most of the household products we use - washing up liquid, laundry liquid, fabric conditioner, liquid soap, body wash, multi-purpose cleaner - come in plastic bottles. And there is no good way to deal with plastic bottles when they are no longer needed. In Buckinghamshire they will form part of the energy waste stream - meaning they are incinerated. May be better than landfill, but still not a great solution. And so much plastic doesn't end up in the proper waste stream at all, but clogs up our rivers and oceans.
Better still is not to need another plastic bottle, and to just use the old one, or bring a glass jar (or take one of ours!) - and pump your container full again.
So a simple and easy way to reduce your plastic is - as you know - to use our minimal refill range! But you can do other things too. Why not make a pledge to plastic free July?
Refresh is not, of course, a plastic free zone - if plastic has already been made we are happy to help it be re-used until it is ready to be safely disposed of. But we would love a plastic free world. If you’d like to understand more about plastic pollution and why it matters, take a look at Ocean Plastic Pollution.
